Congratulations, your computer is now up to 200% faster than before!
The Registry is where your Windows operating system stores a vast amount of information that is needed in order for your computer to run. From the information about the core operating system to information concerning various programs you have installed on your system, some of the most valuable pieces of information are stored within your system's registry.
As you use your computer, the Registry becomes cluttered. Just like pulling things out of the closet and putting things back in, when you install and uninstall programs, sometimes things just don't go back to how they were. As this clutter piles up, your computer slows down considerably. By cleaning up these errors in the registry, you are able to gain much of the performance from your computer that is lost over time. While there are many different types of software out there that claim they will clean your registry, only one of these registry cleaners deserves our utmost attention in my opinion. That program is RegCure. This piece of software has shown me time and time again that it can help speed up my pc significantly when I am having issues.
But once you have run a registry cleaner, how can you keep your computer running fast? Is there no choice but to use a registry cleaner regularly? Perhaps one of the best preventive measures that you can use in this regard is to think carefully before you decide to install something to your computer. Every program that you install onto your computer puts information into the registry. Even if you remove this program from your computer, these registry entries will often still be left, either by design or by error. By installing only the essential programs, you will be able to ensure that your computer continues to run at its peak performance for longer.
With the invention of the Internet came a whole array of computer problems. One of these problems is Spyware. Spyware are programs that are designed to be downloaded onto your computer that steal your information. You might not even know if you have downloaded spyware! With all these forms of spyware building up on your computer, not only is your information unsafe, but your computer performance will also be greatly reduced. By using Spyware scanners, you can keep your information protected, as well as ensuring that your computer runs in tip-top shape.
When you first start up your computer, there are programs which are set to load up during your computer's starting up process. Some of these programs are necessary for running your computer, but many of the programs that load during start up do not need to be! By having them load at start up, your computer's speed takes a heavy toll. Not only will your computer take much longer to boot up, but it will also be slower as you use it. Luckily, it is relatively simple to prevent these types of programs from loading during the starting up process. While you can use Windows Task Manager to close the programs individually, this will not prevent them from running the next time that you start up your computer. Instead, go to each program individually and look through the program options for a way to disable it running on booting the computer. Another way is to use the MSConfig tool in Windows. How to use the MSConfig tool is beyond the scope of this article, but there are many articles out there on the web that can provide you with this information.
Defragmenting the hard drive is also one of the core ways of speeding up your computer's performance speeds. Fragmentation happens as information is split into several different pieces onto your hard drive, as the computer fits it into all the spaces and gaps that are available. When you access a fragmented file, your computer must have the hard drive search multiple parts of the disk, sometimes on entirely different sides. Imagine listening to a Vinyl album and needing to move the needle to the middle of the disk to get to the next part of the song! By defragmenting your hard drive, your computer puts the files into continuous segments that allow for a much quicker read time. This enables your computer to run significantly faster. Another useful thing is to ensure that you have as much free space as possible on your hard drive, as this enables your computer to use the hard drive space to speed up other processes.
By keeping your hard drive defragmented, as well as ensuring that your hard drive and registry are not filled with clutter or spyware, you will be able to enjoy that feeling of having a brand new, fast running computer each and every day you use your computer. It's amazing how just a little bit of effort can result in your computer being so much more responsive!
