Gorilla Glass: The new Future of Technology
Manufacturers keep trying to make whatever they can smaller and slimmer. We’ve all secretly wondered when they were going to create TV’s, cell phones, and computer’s that are as thin as a piece of paper. Well, you may live to actually see that transformation. From there, who knows what they will come up with? We can only guess.
A new durable glass called, gorilla glass, was created by Sturdy Corning Glass Company in 1962. It never sold unfortunately, due to the fact that in the 60’s there wasn’t any use for it. Now with TVs, cell phones and computers there is need for it. Sturdy Corning Glass has high expectations for this new glass. Investors and manufacturers are taking note.
Gorilla glass is a tough and durable glass. It is one of the toughest types of glass to break, dent, or scratch. The first type of technology that is set up to use this astounding glass is flat screens TV’s. Because of the extreme thinness of this glass, people may not even notice that it is a TV on the wall. Visitors may mistake it for a painting or picture, because it is said to be as thin as a piece of paper. The good news is, this new glass is only supposed to weigh less than a dime in weight.
Gorilla glass will be used on TV’s and flat screens this year. Sturdy Corning Glass Company is speaking with a factory in Japan. They hope to have a massive amount built and ready for sale by end of 2011. In 2015, gorilla glass is supposed to be the second largest business on the market.
The paper like glass is set to be used for things other than TV’s. In the future, Sturdy Corning Glass Company is hoping it will be used for cell phone screens, refrigerator doors, sunroofs, and so much more. They sky is the limit for this durable glass.
The glass company has high aspects for it selling. They won’t know for sure how customers will like the new look of TV’s until they actually get it out on the market.
Maybe manufacturer’s next feat will be, to discover a way to produce bendable medal. That way, if things keep shrinking in size, you may be able to fold up your computer and carry it around with you in your pocket. Wouldn’t that be something? There is no doubt, that this will definitely be the next big thing in technology.
