Laptop Security Program Review
Security program features are vast, but really all that is truly needed is a firewall and an antivirus. Not everyone needs a military grade security package that takes up every bit of power the laptop has. The truth is, if you are just surfing the internet every day for an hour or two, and occasionally do your finances on Excel, you will not need much of an antivirus or firewall. Often, the firewall supplied with the laptop itself will be enough to cope with that kind of strain. The antivirus will protect you from any nasty viruses that may be lurking on the websites that you visit, or in the files you download.
On the subject of running power, having a security program can actually speed things up in the long term, because it will ensure that all the bad bits of files do not get left on your laptop, and are deleted as required. If a chunk of a file is left after an install, some of the more popular laptop security programs will remind you to clean them off, thus speeding up your processing power and freeing up storage on your laptop.
Ideally a security program should be seen and not heard. There is nothing worse than logging on to the internet, and then being prevented from reading the stuff you went on for, or in the middle of a game getting a warning to update your virus database. The more modern antivirus software has silent running, and automatic updating, and also to a lesser extent – firewalls will automatically update if required, and are pretty nondescript sitting in the system tray until contact is made with another network or the internet.
It would be recommended that you ask the advice of a dealer or technician in the retail outlet where you buy the software, and explain exactly what you use your laptop for, and how many hours a day you spend on the internet. You must also ensure you ask specifically for a laptop security program too, because a portable security package will work well on WiFi devices and wherever you log onto a network when you are out and about.
