'Angels Crest' in theaters this December
Starring Thomas Dekker (Kaboom 2010), Lynn Collins(X-men Origins: Wolverine), Elizabeth McGovern, Jeremy Piven and Mira Sorvino, Angels Crest is directed by Gaby Dellal. The story is based in a wintry setting in a Rocky Mountain town called Angels Crest and revolves around the lives of a dysfunctional family with an alcoholic mother played by Lynn Collins. A tragedy involving the family shatters the peace of the entire town. A prosecutor (played by Jeremy Piven) haunted by his own tragic past, a lesbian couple played by Kate Walsh and Elizabeth McGovern , a local diner operator(Sorvino) worrying about the safety of her own child, and other town residents add different perspectives to the movie. Angels Crest runs 92 minutes and can be watched on VOD on 25th November 2011 and releases in theatres on December 30, 2011.
Actor Thomas Dekker, who plays Ethan Denton, drew on personal tragedy for inspiration in playing the difficult role of a grieving father in the movie. The actor’s father, in real life, was dying during the shooting of the film. Says Dekker,” I don't think it's healthy for actors to use personal issues as inspiration. I was hurting so bad on this movie. It was a very painful time because my father was dying while we shot this movie and I realized halfway through that I was using all the personal grief and pain that was not healthy. I had to figure out for the rest of the shoot how to put that aside and focus on the story."
The movie is based on a 2004 novel by Leslie Schwartz and received accolades at the Tribeca film festival 2011. Movie reviews seem to indicate that Gaby Dellal has indeed crafted a realistic drama about tragedy and its effects in Angels Crest .
