Payday Loans - Are They Right For You?
For millions of people, payday loans help them quickly and easily get the money they need to pay off unexpected expenses. If used right, a payday loan can help you save money and avoid bouncing checks or getting late fees on other bills. However, payday loans aren't for everyone.
Before you get one, stop and think for a second. Ask yourself is this really your best option. If you have other options consider trying them first. As you probably already know, payday loans are very expensive. You should only use them after you have considered all other options.
A survey showed that 75% of people use payday loans to cover an unexpected expense. The most common unexpected expenses included car repair and medical bills. For these types of situations payday loans can be very helpful. If you need to pay your light bill or a credit card bill, getting a payday loan could help you avoid getting your lights cut off.
But first, take the time to find out what fees you will get if you pay your light bill or other bills late. In some cases, the fee you are charge will be much cheaper than the fees associated with a payday loan. If you still need to get a payday loan, sit down and write out a budget so you can pay it back immediately. If you are late on a payday loan you could end up owing 10 times as much as the original loan amount.
Before you get a payday loan which could ultimately end up putting you in more debt, here are a few things I want you to consider doing. If you know you are going to be late paying a bill, call the company and let them know. Ask if you can get some sort of extension. Most companies will allow you to do this if you let them know you will be late.
If you can, borrow money from friends or family members before optin to get a payday loan. Generally speaking friends and family won't charge you interest. And even if they do, it won't be nearly as much as a payday loan company will charge. Last but not least, cut back on unnecessary expenses such as eating out. Doing so will help you come up with the extra money you need to pay your bills.
