A common method used by some people to make extra money online is to set up websites for people to watch free movies online. These people set up these sites not knowing if the practice is legal or not.

What they will do is find movies that other sites have posted online at popular sites, then embed the video player on a page of their website or give a link to the movie on their site.

They figure that because they are not the ones hosting the movie they are in the clear concerning any possible legal ramifications. These site owners will then promote the movie and generate extra money.

Offering for others to watch free movies online might not seem harmful at first, but it is grey area. There was an instance where a guy who ran a popular free online movies website called TV-Links.com got severely punished for the practice. All he did was link to other places around the internet that offer people to the chance to watch free movies online.

The reality is, even though you might be able to generate some easy revenue using such a method, you are technically breaking the law. You are considered as furthering the commission of a crime and if caught you will suffer penalties.

Some website owners offered users the chance to watch free movies online and found that they were punished in other ways. One way was to have their website drop in search engine rankings.

Another way they were punished was by having all of their new website pages not getting indexed.

Torrent website are another example, a lot of the movies they offer are not hosted on their server, but a lot of them are being shot down and or sued. There are legitimate ways to watch movies online, but only if it is through a trusted well known pay type service.
