Affordable Health Insurance - Millions More Americans are Securing Health Insurance
In September it was reported that over 46 million Americans were without health insurance. That translates to about 15% of the population or roughly one in seven Americans. Roughly 6% of young children are uninsured.
Despite the large number of people without it, hundreds of thousands of people can now afford insurance. About 4% of the population were able to secure health insurance after being without it for at least 12 months. Perhaps some of us take this need for granted. There are a large portion of Americans who do not struggle to afford health insurance. But for those who reflect and do the math, we realize that not every job in the country makes health insurance affordable. People working full time jobs are still unable to afford health care. I applaud president Obama for his efforts in allowing each and every American to secure health insurance.
This increase is largely attributed to the Affordable Care Act which allows offspring to stay under their parents health insurance plans until they reach 26 years of age. This translates to about 1 million more Americans between the ages of 19 and 25 securing health insurance with one swing of the bat. Americans can expect more regulation of their health care system. Americans are fed up and demand that every American has access to affordable health care.
What may be most alarming is that as much as 25% of our youth remain uninsured. This is a burden on the parents and those in need of insurance. The Affordable Care Act is one huge step towards every American securing health insurance.
