Ron Reagan, speaks out about the former presidents illness in his new book, “My Father at 100.”

Ron ReaganThe youngest of four children, Ron Reagan, speaks out about the former presidents illness in his new book, “My Father at 100.” The book is a memoir about Ron Reagan’s life in the white house as a child, and the moments he spent with his father. According to Ron Reagan his father suffered signs of Alzheimer’s way before his original diagnosis in 1994. He talks about it in his new book. Ron believed that his father was showing signs of the brain deteriorating disease while President Reagan was still in the white house. White house officials disagree with that statement.

Health officials that worked closely with Reagan, before he left office in 1989, have declined Ron’s claims against the former president and claim that he showed no signs while he was in the White House.

In Ron’s book, “My Father at 100” Ron speaks of his father with high acclaim, love and worry. He talks about the campaign reelection and how Ronald Reagan showed signs of Alzheimer’s while running for candidacy. Ron Reagan writes in his book, saying “watching the first of his two debates with 1984 democratic presidential nominee Walter Mondale, I began to experience the nausea of a bad dream coming true. At 73, Ronald Reagan would be the oldest president ever reelected. Some voters were beginning to imagine grandpa who can never find his reading glasses, in charge of bristling nuclear arsenal, and it was making them nervous. Worse, my father now seemed to be giving them legitimate reason for concern. My heart sank as he floundered his way through his responses, fumbling with his notes, uncharacteristically lost for words.”

“My Father at 100” gives insight to the former president and his aging mind during his last few years of life. Ron Reagan speaks of his fathers diagnosis as not surprising. Some White House officials that have worked closely with President Reagan have said there are false statements in the book. Including the statement Ron made saying Ronald received brain surgery in Mexico after he left office. Records show Reagan treated at a California hospital for a horse accident, but never showed records of surgery.

Ron Reagan had a strained relationship with his father in his younger years but patched things up with him in his adult life. He currently works as a radio host.

The book is scheduled to be released in February, right before Ronald Reagan’s, would have been, 100 birthday. It will be available in various book stores. It is a memoir that the world will want to purchase.
