Microsoft Sued by Motorola Unit
On Tuesday, Microsoft dragged Motorola into a federal court in Seattle. Next day, on Wednesday, one of the Motorola’s units has slammed a lawsuit against the software giant.
Microsoft has been pulled into the legal battle by Motorola Mobility Inc. subsidiary, a unit of Motorola Inc. It has alleged Microsoft of patent infringement.
Leading phone-maker said Motorola Mobility has filed suits in the federal courts for the Southern District of Florida and the Western District of Wisconsin. In its lawsuit, the company has charged Microsoft of infringing 16 patents in its products.
It says Microsoft has violated the patents by using the technology in Windows mobile software, Xbox game-console products as well as PC and server software.
Illinois based Motorola had taken the legal step to prevent Microsoft from breaching key Motorola patents.
Intellectual-property executive at Motorola Mobility, Kirk Dailey said to protect its IPR portfolio the company will keep on taking steps that are required to save it from infringement.
Microsoft made no comments over the matter.
