10 year Old Girl Delivers Baby

The news comes from Southern Spain where a 10-year-old girl has given birth to a baby. Now, the authorities are trying to evaluate whether the newborn should remain in the custody of the minor girl and her family. 

Social affairs minister of the Andalusia region, Micaela Navarro said the girl gave birth to the baby last week in Jerez de la Frontera. 

She confirmed the news and told both the mother and the baby was in healthy condition. However, Micaela denied to give any further details about the identity of the girl and also rejected to tell the sex of the newbie. 

On being asked who fathered the child, she told the father was also a minor. Having sex with someone under the age of 13 is classified as a crime in the Spanish law. But, what complicates this case is the fact that father is also a minor.

Spanish newspapers were full of the reports of the matter and some of them reported mother of having Romanian origin. 

Spanish daily, the Diario de Jerez reported at the time of her arrival in the country, the girl was already pregnant. However, it did not mention about the father. 

Medical practitioners have already expressed their concern over girls getting pregnant at very early age. They say this increases the risk for the lives of the pregnant girls.
