"The Hitman" Suffers from Depression, Alcohol
The former world champion was recently diagnosed as suffering from depression and and alcohol problems. He was caught sniffing cocaine, which was published by a newspaper in London. The newspaper also reported that Hatton used great quantities of drugs during the hours of one of his drinking sprees.
The spokesman for Ricky Hatton, Max Clifford said that Hatton's family is now trying to comfort the depressed boxer and his father has already sought expert advice for his son. A specialist has talked with the boxer telling him that he is suffering from severe depression and alcohol related problems. Clifford told the press that his drug problem is just recent and it is not actually the problem when talking about degrees.
On the other hand, the British Boxing Board of Control is now reviewing the case of Ricky Hatton based on the reports published in the newspaper. Reports disclosed that there is that possibility Ricky Hatton's fight and promotion licenses will be withdrawn and consequently he will be suspended and fined. Thus, the BBBC Chairman Charles Giles stressed that the Board is now trying to meet Ricky as early as possible in order to discuss more conclusively about the controversial issues published in the newspaper.
Meanwhile, the newspaper who caught Ricky Hatton sniffing drugs explained that the video footage was taken at a Manchester hotel few days ago while the boxer was with his Irish friend Emma Bowe, also a champion of the National Senior Women's Boxing competition.
Bowe when interviewed expressed her concern over her depressed friend who she said was dipping himself by drinking 11 pints of alcohol, wine and Sambuca while spending the night out with her. She was also worried when Hatton hinted that he would return to the ring because his self-abuse might cause him a heart attack.
The world pound-for-pound king, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao of the Philippines defeated Ricky Hatton in a second round tehcnical knock-out during their May 2009 championship bout.
