No Book Launch Party for Tony Blair
Blair cancelled today his second book event after protesters prepared protests against his efforts. Blair had invited guests at the Tate Modern art gallery in central London for the party. Random House, a leading publisher, meant the party to celebrate the publication of his book.
Anti-war campaigners who have condemned the Afghan and Iraqi war planned demonstrations outside Tate Modern. They criticized the gallerly for accepting the role of host to the Blair party.
An official of Tate Modern Gallery said it was foolhardy and very disgusting to have the event cancelled simply because people wanted to protest about war and because Blair was a prime minister of a nation that brought stability to Iraqi through the war. The Tate Modern Gallery said the event was a private and confidential event. Blair might be forced to cancel all his planned events since the protesters seem to be fast in catching up with his plans.
Blair’s efforts to promote the book have been frustrated with a previous effort being marred by stone and egg throwing incident. He also announced cancelling another book-signing event at Waterstone bookstore in Piccadilly.
Blair is on the spotlight after he supported the invasion of Iraqi, which led to the post-invasion arnachy, and deaths of Iraqis. Insurgency marred the post invasion period with Iraqi reporting deaths of dozens almost everyday.
