“Attacking Iran would destroy Israel,” Iranian leader President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recently stated. Ahemdinejad was speaking during his visit to Qatar, a Gulf State, with whom Iran shares business and political ties.

According to Ahmedinejad, Israel and the US will suffer destruction upon attacking Iran and reiterated how Israel risks being wiped from the world map upon such an attack. The controversial leader was speaking to journalists during an interview in Doha, Qatar, through an interpreter.

Qatar shares a lot with the West, and it was politically incorrect to let Ahmedinejad make such statements from a western allied country. The Iranian leader, however, was not afraid to share his sentiments with the fourth estate. After talks with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, he went ahead with a scheduled press conference.

He has been calling for the destruction of the Israeli State, which he has often said he does not recognize. The Zionist state, as Ahmedinejad refers to the country, will be destroyed if it attacks Iran.

Israel has nuclear capabilities and the capacity to destroy Iran. It is the only Middle East state with a nuclear arsenal. The Jewish State views the Iranian nuclear ambitions a threat to its citizens. It has been planning a full-scale military operation to stop the Iranian nuclear program.

The international community in answer to Iran's ambitions to build an atomic bomb has caused the country numerous embargoes. Iran is nonetheless fearless. A few weeks ago, it unveiled the unmanned combat aircraft that Ahmedinejad referred to as 'the killer' and an ambassador of peace, stoking more controversy regarding his leadership and his views about the Jewish state.
