Wikileaks Founder Investigated by Swiss Authorities
The Swedish police have said in a statement that they are reopening the investigation on the Wikileaks founder Assange. Julian Assange is being investigated for rape after two Swedish women reported to the police that
Assange had unlawfully and indecently approached them for sex. The charges that were put on hold last week were downplayed by the Wikileaks founder who termed them as ridiculous and a ploy to intimidate him and his organization that is on the spotlight for publishing secret information with regard to US covert activities in Afghanistan. Wikileaks is in bad books with CIA, the US intelligence service that owned these files.
The information is damaging, pits the American government and its war generals on the spotlight for crimes against humanity and covert operations that jeopardized human lives.
The Swedish authorities reopened the case after a senior prosecutor ordered it be reopened. According to Assange, the senior Swedish prosecutor reopened the case even after a junior prosecutor ruled it insufficient. The case seems an interesting twist as officers of different ranks in the police try to outdo each other. This, according to the Julian Assange is interesting and indicative of powerful forces in play.
Assange is accused of rape. He has however dismissed the claims. Assange attributes this case to a smear campaign on the repute of his organization, an online whistle blower that is at loggerheads with Central Intelligence Agency CIA. Wikileaks has exposed serious covert operations details and outcomes in Afghanistan and Iraqi, which shows a dangerous trend in how Americans have handled the situation in both countries.
