US Mission in Iraq Ends with Doubts
The skeptical Iraqi army and police are distraught at the task ahead, but they have no choice but to tare on, incredibly stressed at the magnitude of the task ahead.
Calling the mission accomplished in Iraq has been a hot debate with many within Iraq and in Washington bitterly contesting the pullout citing possible counter-productive scenarios.
However, president Obama seems focused on keeping his ratings safe after their decline. He has not done anything right since he assumed office and he seems to be backtracking on almost everything he promised.
Bringing home the soldiers who have been in combat for years is a solace-giving gesture while messing the objective of peace in Iraqi could be counter productive in such a profound way.
In a statement, President Obama pointed out the close of the military presence as the close of a page. He reiterated that it was time to move on and that Iraqis were ready to take up tasks to rebuild and manage their country.
Claiming no victory in the war, the president ended the combat mission after seven bloody years. The president reiterated the need to address the sick economy. The US invasion of Iraqi was a bloody process that has seen 4400 troops die in Iraqi along billions of dollars for the war.
The failure to accomplish the task President Bush started has blemished the president’s leadership and his record as an able leader. Former president Bush had hinted that would define the presidency.
