Apple iPhone 4 Antenna Problems – Still No Resolve
Testing Apple’s products takes a minimum of 14 weeks from inception, but this latest release came winging its way to the shelves in much less time, apparently, and met with disapproval from their loyal customers.
Lead Apple antenna engineer Ruben Caballero had raised concerns that the metal casing around the iPhone 4, that is both aesthetically pleasing and doubles as the antenna, dropped in reception when a hand covered the lower corner of the unit. Engineers working on the project had stated that having direct contact with the antenna/band whilst in use could have an effect on the way it performs. And post launch, Apple had been quoted as saying their users should try using a case so that there would be no direct contact. This has only served to worsen the situation for those who continue to experience iPhone reception problems.
Aesthetics have proven to be Apple’s downfall again, as with previous releases of the iPhone, and one would have hoped the lesson would have been learned. Carriers for Apple’s iPhone lodged complaints over a span of two years, stating that calls were dropping due to a poor wireless signal on voice calls. It now remains to be seen what Apple will do next to appease their customers, who are so keen to purchase the products that retailers are unable to keep them on the shelves. One thing is for sure, the world is watching, and buyers are listening to their every word on this subject. Recent statements and solutions have, of course, done nothing to ease their mind.
