Spice Up Your Marriage
According to the divorce rate website, 50% of American marriages end up in divorce. The rate increases as the number of marriages progress. 67% of second marriages fail and 74% of third marriages fail. Depending on the age range for the couple married, women might be more likely to divorce sooner then men. For people who are in a marriage but have children, the divorce rate is slightly lower. That could be due to an obligation for the children, fear of leaving, and other factors.
There are many tips and tricks you can follow to help you avoid divorce. The following suggestions may keep you and your spouse out of the courtroom and help you get back into the bedroom.
Date Nights
It is always important to have date nights if you are married. Even if you can only go once a week or every other week; don’t turn down the opportunity if you have a chance. To make it out of the ordinary, an option would be to have your husband pick you up outside as if it was a real date. Do not let him see you until you go outside. It may be a challenge due to living in the same house but it will be worth it in the end.
Make Eye Contact
Maintaining eye contact for at least 5 to 10 seconds can help couples stay emotionally connected. In a crowded room keeping eye contact can rekindle romantic feelings for each other. It can also help to calm down an argument.
Self Talk
According to numerous marriage counselors the term Self Talk is when a person expresses their feelings vocally using the term “I.” For instance a wife can have a problem with her husband not taking out the garbage. For her to use the Self Talk therapy she would say “I wish you would take out the garbage on a regular basis. It angers me when you miss a week. “Self Talk is simple and any couple can learn it. It can be used in a negative light and in a positive light. Therapists use it in a positive light in sessions with couples to reinforce expressing feelings to each other.
Kiss
Something as simple as a kiss can help bring a marriage back from the brink of divorce. Sex therapists sometimes use this as an experiment on couples. Even if you are mad at each other, before going to bed spend five minutes kissing. Chances are the argument you were arguing over will be forgotten or seem small.
