Throwing Your First Dinner Party
No more worrying about the neighbors. You finally have that beautiful dinner room that you have always wanted. Excitement fills you; as the realization hits you that you can, now, throw that first dinner party you have always wanted to throw.
For your dinner guests to feel welcome you will want to make sure to set a welcoming mood. Make sure the music is nice and calming. You don’t want it too calming, to where it might put your guests to sleep. Make sure the lighting is not to bright also. This will help the calming effect.
Make a dinner menu for your guests ahead of time. Send them out in the mail, asking people what they would prefer to eat. This will allow you to know ahead of time what you will have to make and the quantity of the item. Make sure to have people tell you ahead of time if they can or can’t come. Make sure to have enough food, for those last minute guests. It is best to have too much food then too little.
Set the dinner places ahead of time. This will save you time and energy, while the guests are there. You will be able to focus your energy on your guests instead of setting everything up. Always make conversation with all of your guests. It would be rude if the host ignored all or part of her guests.
Make sure to have appetizers and activities that you can do, while waiting to eat. Play charades, board games, and other fun group activities. Your guests will feel included and have a fun filled night, with a home cooked meal.
Always be sure to thank your guests. You can choose to say a simple “thank you,’ or you can send them a thank you card in the mail. If the dinner party is because it is your first house and your guests bring presents, then you will want to make sure to repay them. You can give little gift bags away as a thank you for coming out. It may seem like something you would do for a child’s birthday party, but your guests will appreciate the gesture.
The last thing you will want to do is to be yourself. Stay calm and happy and your guests will stay happy. Your guests will want to come back for more.
