Anxiety
Anxiety is classified as a constant state of fear, worry, nervousness, and feelings of dread. For people with anxiety or GAD, general anxiety disorder, there can seem like no way out. Every day people with anxiety are in a constant state of worry. This can be over money, work, and life, doing simple tasks, school or any other life situation.
GAD can range from mild to severe. Any person who experiences anxiety may blow the situation out of proportion and make it worse than what it actually is. This is one of the most common signs of anxiety. Headaches, sweating, irritability, tension, nausea, and other minor side effects can be caused by anxiety. Shaking is another sign of anxiety.
There are many factors that can cause general anxiety disorder. They can be a traumatic event or loss of a loved one. Some researchers believe that anxiety is genetic. Unbalanced chemicals or shortages in neuron pathways can cause anxiety.
Anxiety can be the leading cause of depression and can lead to other illnesses. Schizophrenic, Obsessive compulsive disorder, and other mental disorders can cause anxiety. Half the percentages of people who have anxiety have some form of other disorder.
Children with a bad home life and adults with a lot of stress can have anxiety if the issues at hand are not dealt with.
If you or someone you know has anxiety seeing your physician for a test will rule out any possibility of anxiety or other form of mental illness. Your doctor will ask you questions and give you a physical exam to determine if you have anxiety or not. Seeking medical attention for anxiety is crucial so it doesn’t progress.
If the anxiety is severe enough your doctor might suggest you see a psychiatrist or prescribe you medication. Valium, xanax, Librium, or benzodiazepines are all medications that can help keep anxiety at bay. Anti depressants may help with anxiety also. This can include Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, and other forms of anti depressant medication.
