The loss of fat cells around your middle section, hips, and thighs get tougher to lose.  For people who are over age 25 your metabolism starts to you may have already noticed the drop in your metabolism. The Atkins diet can help you burn off fat and lose those unwanted pounds. It is a simple program that has helped millions of people lose weight.

A lot of people think the Atkins diet is eliminating all carbohydrates. Atkins helps burn fat by reducing the intake of sugary foods, cutting back on carbs, and starchy foods. It allows you to see what you are putting into your body. Carbohydrates are not cut out all together. Atkins does allow you to eat whole carbohydrates. There are 4 phases to the Atkins Diet.

Phase one is your introduction to the Atkins diet. Vegetables that are high in protein, fiber, minerals, and anti-oxidants are safe to eat. It is important to stay away from high carbohydrate vegetables in this phase. This phase gets your body ready to attack the fat cells in your body so you can see faster and better results.

Phase two is what Atkins calls the OWL phase. It is your ongoing weight loss phase. In this phase you can gradually increase your net carbohydrates to 25 grams daily. Dieters will also start to increase the amount of food they are eating.  This includes eating more Atkins approved vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Throughout the whole process you will keep control and monitor what you are eating. 

In phase three of the Atkins diet you are more in control of your appetite and your intake of carbohydrates. Dieters will focus on losing the last 10 lbs of weight slowly in this phase. In phase two you can increase the number of carbohydrates you would like to eat. Dieters will also try test out carbohydrates that are have a higher carb rate. If you gain weight back in this process then you may need to cut back on the carbs in this phase.

The last phase is the fourth stage. This is when all of your hard work has paid off. You will notice a slimmer you and a happier one to. Phase four is probably the easiest. You will take all of the information you learned and apply it to your eating habits for the rest of your life. Keeping control and maintaining the number of carbohydrates you eat will help you keep your desired weight.
