Unhealthy High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) Goes for a TV Name Change
Don't Believe What You See on TV!
To lose weight and to lessen your chances of contracting heart disease, diabetes, and a myriad other poor health conditions, you will want to avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). TV ads, now being aired by the Corn Refiners Association (CRA) and food manufacturers, are telling consumers that HFCS is no different than ordinary sugar. HFCS, say the ads, is recognized by the body the same as other sugars. Research clearly shows that HFCS is an unhealthy product that is metabolized by the body into fat far more rapidly than any other sugar.
Corn Refining Industry Is Counting on Stupid Consumers!
Because of the blighted image already given to HFCS by scientific research, the CRA is on a marketing campaign to change the listing on food products from "HFCS" or "High Fructose Corn Syrup" into the simpler term "Corn Sugar." The name change strategy is a marketing ploy so that the average consumer, checking for HFCS in food products, may overlook "Corn Sugar" and be satisfied that HFCS has not been added to the food product they intend to purchase. Don' t be fooled. Corn Sugar and HFCS are the same unhealthy processed food sweetener or additive.
HFCS and Corn Sugar Are Unhealthy!
HFCS or Corn Sugar is a highly processed sweetener that does not exist anywhere in nature. In spite of what might be claimed by the Corn Sugar industry, the body does not recognize and treat all sugars in the same manner during the digestive process. Years of research have shown that man-made fructose (HFCS or Corn Sugar) and glucose (such as table sugar) are treated quite differently by the body. Most fats form in the liver. When sugar enters the liver, it determines whether to store it, burn it, or turn it into fat. Researchers have learned that man-made fructose doesn't go through this process and is turned directly into adipose tissue (think love handles and cottage-cheese or cellulite thighs).
The Disease List Goes On and On!
When you consume man-made fructose (HFCS or Corn Sugar) you automatically increase your chances of developing hypertension, fatty liver, other liver diseases, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, many pregnancy problems, metabolic syndrome, type II diabetes, kidney problems, hypertension, obesity, and the list goes on. Many people with acne have eliminated or dramatically improved their condition by actively eliminating HFCS or Corn Sugar from their diets.
Fifty-Nine Pounds a Year!
About 70 grams of fructose a day is probably okay, so fruits and similar foods with naturally occurring fructose shouldn't be a problem. The American Dietetic Association (In league with Pepsi, Coca Cola, Hershey Chocolates, Mars Inc., and sugary cereal makers!) has said that 300 grams a day is acceptable. The average consumer ingests about 59 pounds of HFCS or Corn Sugar per year!
Sports Drinks, Too!
The average can of soda pop or cola contains about 40 grams of HFCS or corn sugar. Energy drinks, sports drinks, and vitamin waters are loaded with HFCS or Corn Sugar, sodium, and chemical additives. (Use fresh pure water to rehydrate yourself while exercising.) Almost every canned or bottled juice are often as bad as sodas since they are loaded with fructose. Also, researchers, while testing products that include HFCS or Corn Sugar, found that about half of the food and beverage products that were coming through their labs were also loaded with mercury!
Processed Foods and Diet Foods Are the Biggest Danger!
Almost every processed food or beverage product contains HFCS or Corn Sugar. What's really amazing is that most so-called low-fat diet foods usually contain far more HFCS or Corn Sugar than regular foods. Did you know that just about every processed food has HFCS or Corn Sugar in every morsel you put in your mouth? Just look at any canned vegetable. For a can of peas, peas will be the first ingredient listed. The second will often be HFCS or Corn Sugar. Ingredients are listed according to the quantity of the item. (Rinse those canned veggies thoroughly before serving.)
Don't Be Fooled! Laugh at the TV Ad!
So, be aware that High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) and Corn Sugar are the same monster. Understand that the body treats HFCS or Corn Sugar in different ways than it does other sugars. HFCS and Corn Sugar get morphed into fat more quickly than other sugars. HFCS or Corn Sugar in the diet can lead to many health problems. HFCS or Corn Sugar is in practically every processed food you purchase. Actively try to eliminate HFCS or Corn Sugar from your diet. And just because something is on TV doesn't mean it's true. Laugh when you see the next commercial from the Corn Sugar industry trying to tell you HFCS or Corn Sugar is harmless. The only good things about High Fructose Corn Syrup or Corn Sugar is that it's sugary and very cheap to manufacture.
