Heart Attack: The Signs
Every 60 minutes a man or a woman dies from a heart attack. Fifty percent of people who suffer a heart attack die due to ignoring the signs and not seeking medical help.
There are multiple signs that someone is having a heart attack. It can be probably one of the scariest feelings, other than death itself. If you notice the following symptoms in you or someone you know it is important to seek medical attention right away. Do not assume it is something else because by then it could be too late:
· Anxiety
· Feeling of impending doom
· Chest pain
· Sweating
· Shortness of breath
· Fatigue
· Vomiting
· Turning blue or purple in the face
· Having a hard time speaking
A heart attack can strike at any time of day. Almost one third of all heart attacks are silent. There are no signs and no warnings. The person experiencing the heart attack may feel some of the signs but brush it off as anxiety or just a bad feeling, without really knowing what is happening.
There are ways you can help to prevent having a heart attack. If you smoke it is best to quit. Smoking and drinking can cause heart and lung disease. Eating a healthy balanced diet can help, too. Cutting back on the greasy foods will help to minimize the chances of a clogged artery. Exercise is always a must if you want to live a healthy and long life. Research has been shown that if you exercise for at least 30 minutes a day it can help prevent stroke or heart attack. If you don’t feel like doing weight lifting or any rigorous activity you could try jogging. This will at least give your body the exercise it needs to have a healthy body, inside and on the outside.
