People never think of tomatoes as having a healthy impact on their outer appearance and overall health. The truth is that tomatoes can help battle cancer, promote luscious shiny hair, and help battle hair loss, among other health benefits.

The bad outlook for tomatoes, according to Tomato Gardening Guru, is partially due to the bad reputation that tomatoes had when they first appeared in the United States. According to multiple Tomato Gardening Guru and other history sights, tomatoes were first seen as unclean and people were worried that if you ate just one single tomato it could kill you on the spot.  According to folklore if you ate a tomato it would turn your blood to acid and kill you within seconds. That today is not the case. Gardeners and produce pickers can not get enough of the juicy red vegetable, which is actually a fruit.

Tomatoes contain two active ingredients that can benefit your health. They are Lycopene and Biotin. Lycopene aids in hair loss and healthy shiny hair. Lycopene is an antioxidant that can help battle prostate cancer. Lycopene is strongest in the tomato when it has not been cooked. Such as, in tomato sauce or boiled tomato’s.  Both men and women can reap the benefits of this ingredient in tomatoes.

Biotin, otherwise known as vitamin B7, is an excellent source for the body’s skin. Biotin is the second ingredient found in tomato that is healthy for you. It helps to give a healthy glow and firm skin.

Tomatoes are chock full of vitamins A and C. These vitamins are the main key to prevent hair from getting split ends, getting dull, and help in blood circulation in the head.

There are many different ways to get your fill of tomatoes. You can either choose to eat them fresh from your grocer’s store or from your own garden. To get the most out of your tomatoes find ways to eat them without having to cook them. Try cutting them up in salads, on sandwiches, or just eat them plain.  For women who love to be adventurous, some spas offer the option to bathe in tomato juice.

Tomatoes made their way into the United States with caution and uncertainty. Today they are nothing but a healthy lovable fruit-vegetable.  Get your daily dose of tomato and you might end up looking younger and having fuller thicker hair.
