Exercising is important because it gets the blood flowing in the body and the heart thumping, which is good for the health of the mother-to-be.

1. Walking – this is one of the best exercises anyone can do. It exercises the joints in the body and it is something that can be done anywhere.
2. Swimming – this is one of the most enjoyable exercises. Not only does it give a full body workout, but it works on exercising all the muscles in the body. This exercise can be done without any health risks for pregnant women.
3. Cycling – riding a bike is one for the most effective cardio exercises. For pregnant women, the use of a stationary bike is advised rather than cycling outdoors.
4. Aerobics – a great cardio exercise that works to stretch the muscles in the body. This is one of the most common exercises that a pregnant woman is allowed to do.
5. Strength Training – this type of exercise helps to improve strength and endurance. Do leg lifts, seated rows, bicep curls, supported squat, modified lunges, and hip stretches.

Pregnant women are recommended to exercise regularly during their first trimester because it prepares the body for the birthing. It also helps to keep the body and skin healthy.
Most pregnant women who exercise feel much better about themselves and with regular exercise they can avoid gaining too much weight during their pregnancy. Before the start of any exercise program, always consult with the doctor, and if possible, work out with a professional.
