Choosing the Right Weight Loss Program
What should you look for in a weight loss program:
Make sure it is safe – whether you use a commercial one or you create your own program make sure it is safe. All recommended daily allowances (RDAs) for vitamins, minerals, and protein should be included to ensure that it is a safe diet.
Slow, steady weight loss – losing only a pound after the first week or two is projected. There should be a reasonable goal of weight loss that is expected. The speed of weight loss should be 1 to 2 pounds each week.
Decide when you want to start the program then set your goals. You should be mentally and physically prepared. Try to get rid of any obstacles that might be in your way. Visit your doctor for a physical check up and explain to them that you are about to start a new exercise program.
Keep in mind that your weight loss program should consist of weight maintenance. It is of little advantage to lose a large amount of weight only to regain it in just a few days time. Weight maintenance is the most challenging part of the program. You need to focus on improving your dietary habits and increase your physical activities. You also need to change other lifestyle habits that may have contributed to your weight gain in the past. To be effective, any weight loss program must concentrate on the long-term approach or else the program is largely a waste of money, time and effort. Stay positive and work for the result.
