This isn’t an article comparing one diet to another. This is about my personal experience as a dieter. I guess I’ve tried so many different diet plans over the years I kind of consider myself a bit of an authority on the subject …lol.

Well, this dieting story is from the point of view of the guinea pig: me (and possibly you).

Anyone who has ever needed to diet (I’m talking about serious long-term dieting) knows just how terribly hard it is. You’re all alone out there, trying to reach your goals -
reaching out for a new life and a different future because, let’s face it, fat people and thin people do lead very different lives. So we try and change our lives for the better by becoming ‘normal’ and accepted. And yes, we often weaken and lose our way.

Throwing in the towel


Sometimes you just want to throw in the towel and go on the biggest, longest eating binge of your life because you’re sick of trying and you’re sick of how hard dieting is. You lose sight of your goals and you lose your resolve. But hopefully you regain your senses eventually, but trying to get your focus and your willpower back just seems doubly hard. That’s when you wish with all your heart that you had just
one helping hand to reach out to; just one person who really understands what you’re going through.

The hardest thing for me


For me the hardest thing of all about serious dieting has always been that you’re in it for the long haul – alone. You have to do it by yourself. Sure, you’ve got the support of your family and friends, and maybe even your colleagues at work are rooting for you. But when it comes right down to it, you’re out there all by yourself, trying to accomplish something that feels like climbing the tallest mountain in the world. And when you fall off that dieting wagon again, it just gets harder and harder to climb back on up again.
