Canadian citizenship test – the license to become a native of Canada!
Modern age has brought many changes to way of living. As the cost of living increases, people start moving into the more developed nations where they can earn good money. This is one among the many reasons why people migrate from one nation to another. Since a country better developed than theirs helps them earn good money as well as increase their social status, it has become one of the most sought after options.
There are many countries which are most popular among the migrants, one among them is Canada. Once you come to Canada, you cannot enjoy all the benefits that are given to a native. If you want that opportunity, then you will have to become a citizen there. To become a citizen of Canada, you will be expected to write a Canada Citizenship test, which when cleared, you will be declared as their citizen and can enjoy the rights and benefits that the people of Canada possess!
The eligibility criteria for a person to take up the Canada citizenship test are as follows:
- You should be at least 18 years of age
- You should have a permanent resident status in Canada with no problems in immigration
- You should have lived in Canada for at least 3 years before you apply for the test
- You should have sound knowledge of any one of their official languages – English of French
- You should not have any criminal history
- You are expected to have good knowledge about the rights and duties of a Canadian citizen as well as Canada’s history, values, symbols and institutions
The Canadian citizenship test will be a written one, after which you will have to face a citizenship judge who will evaluate your knowledge of Canada as well as your language abilities.
The test is based on information that is given in a guide called “Discover Canada: The rights and responsibilities of citizenship”. This guide is available on the web and you can make a study thorough of it before giving the test.
After the test which could be either oral or written, you will be told if you have passed or failed. If you have cleared the test, you will be invited to a citizenship ceremony where you will have to take the oath of citizenship as well as a certificate that will declare you as a Canadian citizen!
