"The Social Network" Takes Over Box Office For Second Weekend
Spectators are saying that it could possibly hit $100 million before the end of its showing in movie theatres across the United States.
“The Social Network” is about Facebook’s birth and its merge into the spotlight. The movie follows the creators of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin. The two best friends created the social media website while he was still attending Harvard College. From its first launch of the site, Facebook gained 500 million members in the first few days. The movie also follows Zuckerberg’s legal battle with his best friend, Saverin. Saverin claims he was the sole creator of Facebook and fights for full rights and money rights.
The movie shows how money and fame isn’t everything if you have no one around you to share it with. It has suspense throughout the whole movie. The movie is fiction and not based completely on factual events. This is due to the fact that the real Mark Zuckerberg is very private about his personal life and his claim to fame.
Pop sensation, Justin Timberlake, stars as the creator of Napster, Sean Parker. Parker meets with Zuckerberg and shows him ways to improve his already billionaire making website.
A recorded 55% of viewers were 25 years or older. This was not a surprise since there was graphic material that could be seen as offensive to some. “Social Media Network” is not for children under 18-years old. This is due to violence, drinking, nudity, and obscene hand gestures.
Sony director Rory Bruer couldn’t be happier for the enormous turnout of fans. Bruer made a statement saying, “It really is a great start for us. This is a movie that is resonating everywhere. The reviews are the best I’ve ever seen at our studio in my career. It’s just one of those movies that critics and audiences alike are embracing, and I think it’s going to have a tremendous life.”
