Beginner’s Weight Training – Knowing the Basics

Here are some of the basic things you should know before starting your beginner’s weight training program:
- Warm ups – you should first warm up with aerobics exercises like walking on a treadmill or riding a stationary bike. Warm ups are important because they get the blood flowing in your heart, lungs and muscles, making joint movement easier when your start your weight training.
- Exercises – if you have no experience in weight training and you are not working out with a personal trainer, you may want to consider starting with something simple and light like dumbbells or small-bar barbells. It is important for you not to lift too heavy too soon, especially if you are working out on your own. During the course of your program, gradually, you can increase the weight.
- Sets and repetitions – start off with 1 set of 12 repetitions for each exercise during the first week. As you progress, increase the number of sets and repetitions.
Developing a good workout routine will definitely help to control weight gain. However, weight training would do you no good if it is not accompanied by proper food intake and of course regular consumption of water. Before starting on any beginner’s weight training program, you have to first learn everything that you can about it and make sure that you understand what you will be going through.
