How to Learn to Dance for Your Wedding
For many would be brides and grooms, the idea of doing the first dance in front of the entire wedding party and guests can be terrifying. Knowing that you want that moment in time to be part of your wedding and realizing you have no idea how to pull it off can be stressful. Planning a wedding is already loaded with stress and anxiety, and now you need to find a way to learn to dance before the big day. This is completely possible and there is more than one way to approach this issue and come up with a winning solution.
The first thing you need to do is pick your song. The type of wedding song you select will go far in determining what type of dancing you need to learn. Weddings songs vary and could be better for a waltz, salsa, swing, country, fox trot or other style of dancing.
Methods for Learning to Dance
There is more than one way to learn to dance. Different learning styles will suit different people. While it is imperative that you practice together as a couple once your wedding date gets closer, when you first learn to dance it may be better to learn individually if your preferred style of instruction is different. Once you get comfortable with the basics of the style of dance then you can come back together as a couple.
TV/DVD
There are plenty of excellent dancing programs and instructional DVDs. One of the major benefits of this type of learning is that you can do it in privacy and at your own pace and schedule.
Find an Expert
Perhaps you know someone who is familiar with the type of dance you need who would be willing to give you personal instruction? A friend, family member or acquaintance could easily teach you basic steps and help you to learn. You are not looking to become a competitive dancer. The need is just to learn a style of dance well enough that you can get through one dance at your wedding.
Dance Lessons
If you really feel like you need additional support or have no dance skills whatsoever, then regular dancing lessons in a dance studio might be for you. Having others around to watch could also help you become more comfortable in a crowded setting. Dancing lessons are great for instilling confidence in your dancing abilities.
